I love baking with maple syrup. It is a natural way to sweeten your Amazing Flourless Sweet Potato Healthy Brownies. Use it in moderation and you have a perfectly healthy sweetener.

Compared to refined (or “table”) cane sugar that offers absolutely no nutrients, maple syrup contains some important antioxidants and minerals like zinc and manganese. Maple syrup nutrition is impressive when it comes to supplying protective antioxidants. These are beneficial for reducing free radical damage that can cause inflammation and contribute to the formation of various chronic diseases.

It is important to buy a good quality maple syrup. I recommend this maple syrup because it is pure and tastes so delicious. We use it for baking, pancakes, waffles and even smoothies. Just wonderful!

Delicious and easy to make healthy brownies you will absolutely enjoy.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup mashed sweet potato
  • ½ cup smooth nut butter of choice (either almond or cashew butter)
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • ¼ cup cacao powder
  • *optional ¼ cup chocolate chips or cacao nibs
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350ºF.
  2. On the stove, melt nut butter with maple syrup.
  3. In a large bowl add the mashed sweet potato, melted nut butter and maple syrup, and cocoa powder and mix well.
  4. If you like add some chocolate chips *optional
  5. Pour mixture into greased pan or mold and bake for 20 minutes or until cooked through.
  6. Remove from the oven and allow to cool before taking out of the mold or pan.
  7. These brownies are best when cooled completely.
  8. You can store them in the refrigerator or at room temperature.
  9. Enjoy

    hi there. the flavor of these is yummy but I somehow didn’t get mine to smooth out and bake into a brownie: they stayed in the shape I scooped them in and just got firmer. any thoughts? will def try again! thanks.

    Just realized, my almond butter wasn’t super smooth. when I melted it it didn’t get pourable, as some do. it was somewhat of a course grind from a grinder. I’ll bet that’s the reason!

    Hi I am interested in baking these brownies question though I am from Canada and a sweet potatoe here is the light tan skin with off white and a hint of yellow flesh. A yam has the orange flesh and the skin I can’t think of the color it’s not purple it’s almost like a dark tan with the orange flesh color in it sorry I am terrible at trying to explain anyways just wanting to clarify what one I am to use. Thanks so much : )

    • Hi Cora, there are many types of sweet potatoes. Last week I bought purple sweet potatoes! The most common type are orange inside and are pretty sweet. Outside they look just like a big potato. I don’t know if yams will work for this recipe because they have a different texture. I will try to get the ones that are Orange inside. Hope this helps.
