Kid Friendly Raw Pesto Sauce is ready in less than 5 minutes!  At home, this is one of my son’s favorite meals.  You can serve it with your favorite type of pasta.

Did you know that eating raw vegetables is the best way to get all the nutrients?  When you steam, boil or bake vegetables, some of the nutrients are lost. Cooking destroys not only nutrients but also enzymes in the food that are needed to digest those nutrients fully.  This is the reason why uncooked foods play such an important roll in your family’s good health.

Serves: 3-4
  • 1 bag fresh baby spinach
  • 10-12 fresh basil leaves
  • 1 avocado (optional)
  • ¼ cup walnuts (optional)
  • Olive oil
  • Sea salt
  1. Put ½ bag spinach, basil, avocado and walnuts in the blender first.
  2. Start adding the olive oil little by little until everything is well blended to a creamy sauce texture. You need to add the olive oil little by little to achieve the right consistency. You can also add a little water instead. All you really need is a few tablespoons of oil and a little water. As you make the sauce, add the rest of the spinach.
  3. Adding an avocado reduces the need for olive oil and the sauce comes out creamier and a little sweeter.
  4. Use salt according to taste.
