Three Adorable Cheesy Appetizers

Cheese and Olive Bumblebees

  • Small or medium black olives
  • Slices of cheddar cheese, double stacked
  • Slices of provolone cheese
  • Cream cheese
  • Black food coloring marker

Using a 3/4-inch round cutter like the  Wilton Set of 3 Round Cut Outs cut two circles of cheddar cheese. Cut the olive in three parts. Starting with the bottom slice of olive, put cream cheese in the center using a Cake Decorating tool or ziplock bag, and alternately stack cheese and olive slices, putting cream cheese in between each layer.

Poke a toothpick down the center. Put a little cream cheese in the  eyes using the same cake decorating tool and add a black dot with a Black Food Writer

For the wings, cut two circles of provolone cheese. Add a bit of cream cheese to the edges and attach them to the backs of the bees.

Cheese and almond hedgehogs

  • Laughing Cow cheese triangles
  • Whole almonds
  • Sliced almonds
  • Cream cheese
  • Peppercorns
  • Round crackers

Place a cheese wedge on a round cracker. Starting on the bottom and working your way to the top, insert almond slices into the cheese wedge to create the hedgehog quills, covering 3/4 of the cheese with almonds. (If the cheese wedge starts to crack or split, pipe some cream cheese onto the wedge to help secure the almond slices in place.)

Put dots of cream cheese onto the cheese wedge for the eyes and nose using a Cake Decorating tool or ziplock bag.

Add two peppercorns for the eyes and cut the tip off of an almond for the nose. Serve with your other adorable cheesy appetizers. They really look amazing together.

Cheese owls

  • Mini Babybel cheese wheels
  • Slices of cheddar cheese
  • Whole almonds
  • Cream cheese
  • Peppercorns

With a 3/4-inch round cutter, slice the top center area of the Babybel cheese to form the owl’s ears.  For the eyes, cut two circles of cheddar cheese, slicing one of them into a half-moon shape, then fitting them together.

Attach them to the owl with a bit of cream cheese. Add large circles of cream cheese on top of the eyes.

Punch out tiny circles of cheddar cheese — made by using a paper Hand Punch or straw to use for the eyes and the body.

Place two of the tiny cheddar cheese circles on top of the cream cheese. For the blacks of the eyes, add some peppercorns with a dot of cream cheese. Place more tiny circles of cheese for the center of the owl’s body, securing them in place with cream cheese. Cut the tip of an almond to use for the beak, adding cream cheese to keep it in place. For the wings, cut a circle of cheddar cheese and slice it in half. Add some cream cheese on the tips and attach to the sides of the owl’s body.
